Child Nutrition

Jefferson School District 251 and our dedicated child nutrition team works tirelessly to ensure that both students and staff have access to wholesome, budget-friendly meals that align with the latest state and federal nutritional standards. Comprised of skilled cooks, kitchen staff, servers, cashiers, warehouse personnel, drivers, and a meticulous menu planner.

Please be aware that we no longer offers complimentary meals for all students. We encourage families to submit their Free or Reduced lunch applications promptly.

Wondering if your family qualifies for Free or Reduced meals? Here’s what you need to know:

Eligibility Criteria

    • Children in households receiving benefits from Idaho Food Stamps (SNAP), the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), or Temporary Assistance for Families in Idaho (TAFI) qualify for free meals.
    • Foster children under the legal responsibility of a foster care agency or court are eligible for free meals.
    • Children enrolled in their school’s Head Start program also qualify for free meals.
    • Additionally, children meeting the definitions of homeless, runaway, or migrant status are eligible for free meals.
    • Families with incomes within specific limits may also qualify for free or reduced-price meals. Consult our FAQ for further details.
